Celestine Joseph Memorial Scholarship

The Scholarship was established in May 2010 in Kathmandu in the memory of Nepal YCS member Celestine Joseph who was killed on 24 May 2009 at Assumption Parish, Kathmandu during the heinous attack executed by underground group called NDA (Nepal Defense Army).

Celestine Joseph, was a fifteen year old student of St. Mary’s school, Kathmandu. She was a very active member of the YCS group. She was the newly elected treasurer of the YCS unit at Assumption parish, Dhobigat, Kathmandu. She was serene and cheerful by nature, willing to do any work for the group.

Celestina was certified brought dead on arrival at the hospital on the day of the attack. Celestine was cremated on 26 May. Her mother’s who was fighting between death and life gave away her soul on 31 May 2009. She leaves behind a shocked father and two little children.
