Cardijn Conference in Australia

The Conference on the theme 'Rediscovering Joseph Cardijn for the New Millennium' was successfully organied by CCI-Australia at Cardijn College, Adelaide from the 9th to 11th October 2009. According to reports received there were a little over 60 delegates comprising YCS and YCW leaders, former YCSrs and YCWrs and staff members and students of Cardijn College.

Group discussions followed after presentations on the following 5 topics: Formationfor Living, Lay Vocation, The Dignity of Work, Creating Systemic Inquiries for Adults and Cardijn's Gift to the Church as an Institution. The delegates assured to follow various possibilities in the future including promoting YCS in secondary schools around the country with the collaboration of the Bishops' Conference of Australia.

The Conference ended with a mass in the Cathedral by Archbishop Philip Wilson who spoke glowingly about the Cardijn mission and he said that he had big plans for the CCI for future.

The Planning Committee is meeting on Saturday 12th December 2009 at Holy Eucharist Prish in St. Albans for the whole day to have a review and to concretise plans for the future.

Stefan Gigacz, International Coordinator represented the International Coordination of CCI.
