The Bishop of Kottar, Rt. Rev. Peter Remigius will preside over its valedictory and release a book on ‘Priests and Laity in the Church’s Mission’.
Cardinal Joseph Cardijn, founder of the International Young Christian Workers Movement, is yet another priest in the post-industrial revolution era who is acclaimed as the biggest single human influence on the pastoral ideas and attitudes of a significant number of priests, bishops and even Cardinals in practically every country.
Cardijn's thoughts, writings and speeches stimulated deep theological reflections. His definition of the role of the clergy and the laity made people to sit up and think. His reflections were radical and at the same time conforming to the social teachings of the Church.
CCI is organising various events during the International Year of Priests to pay its tribute to the priests who contributed to the formation of millions of young people and adults through the Cardijn movements. Many of the ex-animators are now bishops, cardinals, and heads of congregations, institutions and organisations and in parishes. CCI calls upon all the former and current animators and chaplains to actively reintroduce Cardijn to the future generation.
The one day meet will be followed by the General Assembly of the Cardijn Community International, India.
